José Riu es un reconocido guitarrista venezolano, quien se ha dedicado a interpretar el género del blues y otros ritmos íntimamente ligados a éste, como son el jazz, el rock y el soul, a través de un repertorio que incluye versiones de importantes representantes de este género, así como también, temas originales en inglés y español, compuestos por él.
Con una amplia trayectoria artística de tres décadas, Riu ha realizado diferentes trabajos como músico, arreglista, productor y director musical. Cuenta en su haber con varias producciones discográficas, entre las cuales destacan tres discos de blues en español. También ha grabado con diferentes artistas y grupos, tanto de Venezuela como del exterior.
Durante su carrera, José Riu ha tenido la oportunidad de tocar y compartir tarima con figuras de la talla de B.B. King, Otis Rush, John Hammond, Andy Summers (The Police), Edgar Winter, The Dirty Dozen y Zucchero, entre otros.
Asimismo, también ha tocado en diferentes paises entre los cuales podemos citar a EEUU, Inglaterra y Ecuador.
